Oxxio's Oscar - Launch and Winter Campaign

Another collaboration with amazing creative director / animator Juan Behrens https://www.juanbehrens.com/ and ad agency Truus, this time for Oxxio. We were tasked with creating the rebooted Oscar mascot for the brand, previously a 2D character, now in a snazzy new 3D (winter) coat!
My job was doing oscar's modelling, rigging, figuring out the workflow/pipeline, technical shader solutions, geometry node setups and part of the animations and poses.

Here's Oscar! He comes with three outfits, a blue jacket, yellow jacket and winter coat with scarf.

The rig is based on the Rigify Cloud Meta Human rig, extended with custom controls for the face, hair, scarf and various corrective shape controllers.
He is lightweight to animate with, allowing realtime viewport playback.

Oscar was set up with the scale of the campaign in mind, over 100 videos and images.
Using Blender's viewlayers and built-in compositor, hitting render once outputs Oscar with both outfits and any button colour / text combo.

Blender's asset and pose library saved a lot of time when setting up lipsync and shaping the hands to a set of poses that would be used throughout the campaign.

Oscar's winter outfit has a geo node tension map setup, making the fabrics normal map wrinkles deeper when compressing and shallower when stretching.
The Scarf also has dynamic physics, adding a layer of procedural animation.
